SnapTidy watches a folder, reads the text inside every image and PDF that lands there, then renames it and files it by category. Every move is written to a log, so anything it does can be undone.

The date comes from the file, the category from your rules, and the last part from words actually found in the document.
How it works
It watches a folder
Point it at Downloads, your scanner's output folder, or wherever screenshots pile up. It keeps working while the window is closed to the tray.
It reads what is inside
Text is extracted from images and PDFs on your own machine. A receipt becomes a receipt because of the words on it, not because of a filename that was never meaningful.
It renames and files
Each file gets a dated, categorised, searchable name and moves to the right folder. Every move is recorded so you can put it back.
Your files never leave your machine
Reading a document means reading a document. SnapTidy does the text extraction locally, with the recognition models shipped inside the app — there is no upload step and no server that sees your files.
The app makes exactly two kinds of network request, and neither one carries anything from your documents:
- checking your licence key with our payment provider
- checking whether a new version has been released
Also true, and worth saying plainly
- It moves, it does not copy
- Files are moved and the original location is recorded. Nothing is duplicated behind your back.
- An interrupted move does not lose the file
- A move across drives copies, flushes to disk, then renames into place — so a crash mid-move leaves the file whole at one end or the other.
- It will not eat its own output
- Files SnapTidy has already filed are recognised as its own work, even when the destination sits inside a folder it is watching.
Nothing it does is permanent
Every rename and every move is written to an action log before it happens. If a rule was wrong, or a file went somewhere you did not expect, you can send it back to exactly where it came from — under its original name.
An automatic organiser you cannot reverse is not something anyone should point at their own documents. So this one is reversible by design, rather than as a feature bolted on later.

- When can I actually buy it?
- It is still in development, and there is no public build yet. We would rather say so plainly than take money for something we cannot hand over. Join the list and you will hear the moment that changes.
- Which systems does it run on?
- Windows first. The app is built with a cross-platform toolkit, so macOS and Linux are possible later, but neither has been tested and we are not going to claim support we have not verified.
- Does it work without an internet connection?
- The part that reads your files does, yes — recognition runs on your own machine using models bundled with the app. A connection is needed to activate a licence and to check for updates.
- What happens to files it cannot read?
- They are left exactly where they are, under the name they arrived with. A document with no readable text is not guessed at.
- Can it undo something days later?
- Yes. The action log is kept, so a move can be reversed after the fact, not only immediately.
